Student Transfer Request Process
-
2022-2023 School Year
The Kent School District (KSD) will accept transfer applications for the 2022-2023 school year May 2-31, 2022.
Who can apply in May?
- New childcare waiver requests.
- Siblings of current transfer students at the requested school who will be attending for the 2022-2023 school year.
- A student who has completed at least their first year of high school and wishes to remain at that school until graduation.
- A student whose educational, safety or health condition would be or is being severely impacted at their boundary school and the transfer would improve the identified condition.
What if I live outside of KSD?
Students who live outside of the Kent School District may also apply for a transfer in May to our schools based on the above criteria. Non-resident transfer requests are required to obtain a release from the district where they reside to be considered for placement in a Kent school. Non-resident students must apply and obtain a release every year per state law.
What if my student is already attending a school on a transfer?
If you are a resident of the Kent School District and your student is already attending a school on a transfer, you do not need to complete a new application to stay in this school. If your student is going from elementary to middle school or middle school to high school, you will need to complete a new application.
When will I know if my transfer request is approved?
Families will be notified by email by the end of June.
Transfer Request Applications Not Required for Virtual School
All students entering grades 6-12 may choose to attend Kent School District’s new virtual school for the 2022-2023 school year by completing a separate online enrollment process.
2021-2022 School Year
The Kent School District (KSD) is no longer accepting transfer applications for the 2021-2022 school year unless the transfer is requested due to a recent move, childcare need, or program.
