ECEAP & Head Start
Free Preschool for Qualifying Children Ages 3-5
Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) and Head Start programs provide free preschool education and support services to children three to five years old.
Through this program, families who meet the income eligibility criteria (at or below the Federal Poverty Level) and live within the Kent School District boundaries are provided with opportunities to engage in their child's education and connect with resources in the community.
Kent School District and Kent Youth and Family Services have partnered to streamline the ECEAP and Head Start application process for families by creating a centralized registration and enrollment system.
Applications for early learning programs are processed by trained Family Support Specialists using the Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD) eligibility criteria.
To ensure eligibility is appropriately determined, please answer all questions to the best of your knowledge. Answers will not exclude your child from the program; answers will be used to determine selection priority for the program.
For information on how to apply and what programs are available, please contact the family support specialists at the Kent Family Center by phone at (253) 630-9590.
