Notice of Updates to Regular Board Meeting Public Comment (Procedure 1420P)

Beginning with the January 10, 2024 regular board meeting, changes to Procedure 1420P Proposed Agenda and Consent Agenda, specific to Communication from the Audience, will be implemented as provided to the board as an Informational item on November 8, 2023.  This revised procedure provides efficiency, clarification, and expectations for the public comment process at regular board meetings. There have been no recent updates to corresponding Policy 1420.

    • The revised procedure aligns with the board’s value of public comment and the importance of involving students, staff, and members of the public in its meetings.
    • KSD’s public comment procedure includes the following:
      • Prioritization of student comments over all else.
      • No changes to the existing practice of hearing an unlimited number of comments on both non-agenda items, and agenda-specific items.
      • Ensured equitable access for the public to make comments to the board, whether verbally in person, verbally on video, or written.
